Ice Wyrm is a boss in Prodigy Math Game.

Appearance[]

It resembles a wyrm made of shiny light blue ice crystals. On its head, two bright yellow eyes resemble cats' eyes, a "beard" made of icicles, and assorted sharp teeth sticking out of its mouth. It has shining green, blue, and pink crystals all around its lower body. The wizard cannot tell the length of this creature as half of it (or more) is buried underground. It closely resembles Makalu in Crystal Caverns.

Role[]

The Ice Wyrm poses a challenge to the player in their quests, as well as later challenging them as the boss of Shiverchill Mountains.

First Encounter[]

As the player attempts to retrieve their first Ice Crystal, the Ice Wyrm appears and eats the crystal. As the player battles it, the wyrm appears unnamed, with "???" replacing its name. When it's defeated, the quest is finished and the player gains a new relic.

Second Encounter[]

Once Bok gives the player the final quest of finding the five depowered crystals, they must return to Bok. The player's wizard will eventually stop and lay out the crystals in the next quest, somewhere in Wyrm's Rest. The Ice Wyrm will take the bait and battle the player. This time, it'll be correctly named "Ice Wyrm," because Bok told the player what it is. After the player defeats the Wyrm, they can take the real power crystal from its victory chest and light the 3rd furnace, which will warm the mountain up enough to go inside the throne room, which is the place where the player receives the Shiverchill Gem.

Trivia[]

  • Ice Wyrms are real; they are tiny worms that live in glaciers. They were common during the Ice Age, but now they are very rare.
  • As most bosses, the Ice Wyrm doesn't have a health bar, so players can't keep track of its health during battle.
  • The appearance of this boss was changed to a three-eyed worm, and then a type of dragon. However, when it attacks, players can still see that the latest Ice Wyrm still has three eyes like the older version.
  • It is hinted that the Ice Wyrm's body represents power crystals owned by Bok in older versions of Prodigy.
  • The Ice Wyrm replaced Muffins, a giant armored polar bear, as the boss of Shiverchill Mountains.
  • Interestingly, when the player reaches the area where they battle the Ice Wyrm, the quest description is "???".
  • The Ice Wyrm has another boss of its Shadow Shadow Variant in Crystal Caverns, called Makalu, who was originally an Ice Wyrm but ingested some Shadow power crystals.
  • Like Glacias, Ice Wyrm is the name of the species as well as the name of the boss.
  • It was changed from Muffins to the Ice Wyrm then it was changed into a new form.
  • It has an updated sprite that shares the same shape as Makalu, but only new players who haven't completed Shiverchill Mountains will see it.
